Job Summary

A Business Manager (State) shall be responsible for; 1. Overseeing branch operations in order to ensure they operate profitably in line with the business plan, to ensure branches implement management controls to minimize losses and fraud and manage staff to ensure they meet performance targets in line with the overall MFB operational guidelines. 2. Develop and implement effective and winning marketing strategies for the state and zone, within the overall corporate strategy. 3. Effectively coordinate the activities and manage the resources of the state for peak performance and maximum profitability, in line with regulatory framework.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

 i. Overall responsibility for driving business growth and expansion in the state. This includes developing and executing the business plan, product marketing, and branch operations in line with corporate strategy and the local business environment. 

 

ii. Oversee all branch operations in the state to ensure market growth, market dominance, and profitability. Monitor performance against set targets and KPIs. 

 

iii. Drive deposit growth as a key responsibility to fund operations and meet business targets in the state. 

 

iv. Drive growth in the number of borrowers and risk assets. Ensure clear accountability for portfolio growth, expansion of the customer base, and loan book quality. 

 

v. Manage NPL and PAR levels within approved and regulatory thresholds. Ensure risk mitigation strategies are in place and compliance with regulatory requirements. 

 

vi. Lead rural market penetration initiatives and identify/establish new strategic and profitable outlets/business units to expand the Bank’s presence beyond existing outreach areas. 

 

vii. Lead, coordinate, and facilitate strategic engagement activities and events that enhance the Bank’s visibility and strengthen stakeholder relationships in the market. 

 

viii. Explore and carry out the opening of new strategic and profitable outlets/business units in the state 

 

ix. Ensure effective management of human and material resources. Responsible for performance appraisal, coaching, mentoring, and motivation of all state staff and Branch Managers. 

 

x. Maintain strong customer relationships and ensure branches deliver service standards that meet customer requirements. Ensure proper branding of all branches in the state. 

 

xi. Review audit and financial reports from branches to ensure management controls are in place and recommendations are implemented. Verify that Key Personnel and Branch Managers diligently carry out ORSA control checks. 

 

xii. Visit branches facing challenges to ensure prompt resolution of issues. Advise Zonal Management on winning strategies for the MFB’s products and services in the state. xiii. Drive organizational change initiatives for business progress and sustainability 

 

xiv. Perform other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by Supervisor(s) and Management.

Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS 

 

Education: A good bachelor degree or Equivalent, preferably in a business-related discipline. MBA and/or other relevant postgraduate or professional qualification will be an added advantage. Must be CIBN-MCIB qualified 

 

Experience: Minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience, at least 2 of which should have been at Middle or Senior management level
